In a bid to echo the Olympic Council of Asia’s (OCA) effort in promoting the Asian Games, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) organized the Asian Games Youth Reporter Project for college students. The Project aims at raising Hong Kong young people’s interests in international multi-sports games and broadening their horizon, while at the same time promoting sports journalism.
The Project featured a three-hour workshop equipping participants with the basic skills of a journalist when covering large-scale sports events, such as the Asian games. These skills included making preparation, conducting researches and interview, and so on. The workshop also arranged participants to interview triathlete Oscar COGGINS onsite, who represented Hong Kong, China at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. OCA finally selected one of the participants, LEUNG Nga Wing, as the winner to represent Hong Kong to form a team of OCA young reporters with other winners selected from other OCA zones. The team will visit Hangzhou to cover the Hangzhou 19th Asian Games.
