The 19th Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou on the Motherland. It bears remarkable significance as the Hong Kong, China Delegation will be the largest-ever contingent in Hong Kong’s Asian Games history. In this connection, the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) collaborated with Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) to invite students to participate in the creation of a mascot for Team Hong Kong, China. The project aims to encourage young people to unleash their creativity, participate in the Games and cheer for our athletes.
The response was enthusiastic. Their submissions unfolded a perfect combination of sports and culture, igniting a spark. SF&OC has received about 60 design proposals. After the selection by panel judges and with the professional guidance by teachers, Joey POON Cho Ying, a student of higher diploma student in Advertising Design at the Department of Communication Design of HKDI, stood out with her design, “Rock”. Rock has now become the mascot and ambassador for Team Hong Kong, China. He will appear in upcoming events to join members of the public to support Hong Kong athletes. Let’s have fun with him!
I am a lion born with the DNA of the Lion Rock spirit – as you can see my hair is hard as a rock! I share the same characteristics as Hong Kong athletes, who always demonstrate perseverance and dedication, rise to difficulties and challenges with positivity and optimism, and do not easily give up. I am also a devoted fan of the Team Hong Kong, China and I do not miss any opportunity to follow their latest movements!
My favourite hobby is exercising, which I am also very good at. If you see me around, do invite me to exercise. We can have fun together!
